Indian-American Alliance

A fascinating look at America's growing strategic ties with India.
This must be cultural suicide on our part. About a third of their population is Muslim, and they recently had a Muslim president!!!!!!1!1!!!

Nevertheless, despite having a large moslem population, most of India's future problems likely shall be with moslem countries such as Pakistan, Bengla Desh and possibly Indonesia.
Having a formidable indian ocean navy, India will be more suitable for full membership in the alliance of Russia, China, Japan and Singapore that I project in the not too distant future, as the power of the north atlantic alliance fades.
There may not be all that much petroleum left in the Middle East. But guess who's going to be there to enforce the primacy of their right to it, grinning from ear to ear like a 19th century trade or military official of the British Empire?

But if and when they think it is in their interest to do so, they will combine. And I think the growing evidence of world peak oil.
The election of Senator Obama, if that indeed occurs and if his foreign policy largely is carried out, will have the net effect of weakening the overseas extendability of the power of the United States.
That, combined with the what all these countries will see as their need to pursue control of remaining world oil resources in the middle east, will cause India, China, Japan, Russia and certain of the east indian states to combine their policies and forces.
What then will "our continuing ties with Japan" be worth, other than for their commercial considerations?
And a future America without either oil or money will be worth what to anybody?
In short, I see what is left of the power of this country being swept away, while large numbers of people here actually cheer in anticipation for all that.
But if it does come about, what do you seriously think will be the result?

Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.
Still: behave like an adult, or go find somewhere else to play. Thanks.
