An Islamic Reformation In Turkey
Dave Price
As I've noted before, Islam is gradually undergoing its own Enlightenment. Turkish authorities took a major step today with the decision to rewrite the hadiths to make them more compatible with modern notions of individual rights.

But I hope they succeed, and I hope Islam is finally brought into modernity as a whole (yes there are parts and individuals who have been brought in, but they are minor)
What if a green donkey holding a yella dog being ridden by a black woman passes behind you? Does that cancel itself out or is your prayer still valid but just arrives in reverse?
And what do Muslims have against dogs anyhow? Cats are the ones who really suck out loud.
Does that mean they will drown in a heavy downpour if you can't get em to quit looking up or does it mean you can shear em for profit? Cause if you can shear em for profit then my wife owes me some big money.
Ditto. In addition to that I think dues oughtta be like three hundred bucks a year or something.
I think I could get that back easy every year by shearing my wife instead of sending her to the hairdresser every other week.
I might could even recoup some on my daughters.
I guess I applaud Turkey for the changes and everything but if you're gonna take out all of the fun parts then all your gonna be left with probably are the bits about religion.
It seems kinda drastic to me.

Are you sure they aren't Scottish?
Well, nobody's perfect...
Hey! That's Scotsophobic! I'm telling!
Heh.
(From someone whose grandma would be aligned with the Gordons.)
Wait - now that I think about it: sheep, head-cleaving, swords, lousy weather, clan-based politics, blood-feuds, unique native garb, dour religious types...
It is Scotland. Or ancient Gaul. Take your pick.
Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.
Still: behave like an adult, or go find somewhere else to play. Thanks.
