Is This Why Hugo Chavez Fears U.S. Invasion?

Apparently oil isn't enough to pay for the socialist revolution, as they are now turning to narcotics trafficking.
The varied testimonies I have heard reveal that the co-operation between Venezuela and the guerrillas in transporting cocaine by land, air and sea is both extensive and systematic. Venezuela is also supplying arms to the guerrillas, offering them the protection of their armed forces in the field, and providing them with legal immunity de facto as they go about their giant illegal business.
If this is true, perhaps Chavez' fear of U.S. military intervention is not entirely groundless, as Manuel Noriega could attest.

Of course, we could end all the narco-states and put these violent merchants out of business tomorrow by eliminating the laws that create their 10,000% profit margins.

For that alone, I would invade Venezuela and put an end both the narco-traffickers and their marxist protector in chief.

I really don't know whether ingesting lungfuls of cannabis smoke is more harmful then doing the same thing with tobacco smoke. I don't smoke in any case.

But I have the growing idea that it might be a good idea to treat as international terroristsa anyone involved in smuggling cocaine or heroin into this country. Which means that I would put them to death.

Naah. It's because the sequel to Mercenaries is being held there. I can't wait till that game comes out so that I can practice my coup skilz. Combined with my mad shooting skilz I should be able to pop a cap in that tard's butt in no-time!

The United States didn't invade Panama because Manuel Noriega dealt drugs. It invaded Panama because Manuel Noriega

1) Declared war against the United States

2) Planned a military invasion of the Canal Zone in an effort to capture American hostages

and 3) Massed troops at the border of the Canal Zone.

That he was also dealing drugs was just icing on the cake -- one that could be used in American courts without scowls of protest from the same people protesting the holding of terrorists in Gitmo.

Commenting on Dean's World is a privilege, not a right. Dean is your host, you are his guest, and you should behave in that fashion. Dean is not your babysitter, nor is he your punching bag. Please remember this. In general, you are free to disagree with anyone on any subject you wish, but abusive behavior will not be tolerated.

Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.

Still: behave like an adult, or go find somewhere else to play. Thanks.
