And then there were four (well, three)

rather than make an easy prediction about Florida I decided to go for some post-game commentary instead. It's McCain's nomination to lose, now.
And good riddance to Rudy.

I guess they have to hate someone.
Oh please. Rudy himself had no personal connection to that scandal -- unlike Obama and Rezko, or the Clintons and Whitewater, or Edwards and his pregnant campaign chief, or Bill and Monica.
Kerik did a good job, but he turned out to be corrupt. The worst you can say of Rudy is he wasn't a great judge of character.
You've been drinking the Kos-Aid, my friend.
And now we'll see the attacks on McCain start. His moderation won't mean any more than Rudy's did.
being very liberal for a Republican does not make you tasteful to Democrats. And let's not kid ourselves on how liberal Rudy would have been. No less than Norman Podhoretz was his foreign policy advisor. That's what lost him my vote, at least.

Right, I didn't expect Dems to greet him with open arms. My point was just that it was odd there was so much lefty antipathy to Rudy, as opposed to the other (generally more conservative) candidates.
It seemed odd that they were so glad Rudy was out of the race, given that the other contenders were generally less friendly to their views.
There definitely was probably some fear about Rudy being the only one who could seriously win against a Democratic candidate. But he also was (arguably) the most pro-war of the primary candidates, certainly the only one explicitly running on a "remember 9/11" platform. Regardless of his position on anything else, the Democratic base is going to rage against him for that sin alone.
Well, in an American election, the American world is the most important issue. Just as, in a German election, German interests rule, and in an Indian election, Indian interests rule, etc.
Like every other nation, Americans have to look out for themselves, because no one else will...
even if you edit DanielH's sentiment to read:
"The last thing our American world needs..."
it's still true.
Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.
Still: behave like an adult, or go find somewhere else to play. Thanks.
