Since it's NSFW, I'll have to guess what it is from the URL: "Virtual Hottie".
But the dynamics may be changing. For a decade, there were two things that were generally true about the Internet: porn was the big money maker; and porn was a big tech driver, because their demands for bandwidth were huge, driven in part by those large profits. You could almost say the porn led the Web.
But recently, Professor Reynolds linked a story -- long since lost from my browser history -- that indicated that porn may still be leading the way; only the way they were leading was into a world where there was so much acceptable-quality user-created content that the money was going out of the business. As the old saying goes (in another context, of course), why buy the cow when milk is free? Apparently there are an awful lot of amateurs willing to have sex and put the videos online, and ad/subscription revenues at the porn sites are dropping.
it could be that this technology is the answer to the free porn. if people are going to have sex and show the world for free, you may as well make some money on the mode by which they do that. this virtual world seems to be at least one answer to that.
I dunno. It seems to me that every time we've created any medium [painting, printing, photography, xeroxing, faxing, you name it] pr0n got in there almost from the first. Hell, kids [boys anyway] tend to make obscene pics after they get past the fingerpaints. Don't see how this is much different.
Wow. Jan Hammer would be rolling over in his grave, except he's still alive.
No, he still is. It's a thing he does.

Commenting on Dean's World is a privilege, not a right. Dean is your host, you are his guest, and you should behave in that fashion. Dean is not your babysitter, nor is he your punching bag. Please remember this. In general, you are free to disagree with anyone on any subject you wish, but abusive behavior will not be tolerated.
Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.
Still: behave like an adult, or go find somewhere else to play. Thanks.
