I can think of a few excellent pragmatic uses. Actually several.

1. High resolution/definition image analysis on a large screen television screen, enhanced by image analysis software and detail projection compensation software.

2. The imprinting, encryption, decryption and analysis of digital (as well as other formats) steganographic imagery upon such a screen and resolution base.

3. Audio analysis washed through an attached high capacity acoustic analyzer attached to such a screen for the analysis of film and moving digital imagery.

4. The creation and editing of your own films/moving digital images so that they can be analyzed at high definition and high resolution prior to final editing and production.

5. The creation of camouflaged images which either lay under or over (possibly even obliquely, depending on data layering) the images being normally viewed and which can only be recognized at either normal resolution, or high resolution, or in some method of presentation that would require specialized software for the resolving or interpretation thereof.

6. Visual analysis of digital data.

7. The translation of music and sound into visual data through associational correspondence. (Which is just basically what Trudy suggested, but programs could be written to produce or elicit specific psychological, sensory, and perceptual effects depending upon intention and usage, and other ends could be achieved in others ways too, of course- for instance without much modification you could turn such things into non-lethal weapons or interrogation tools and aids).

8. The analysis of and (re)creation of projected, artificial, and partially known environments (that is for environments that one might wish to penetrate or infiltrate, but an environment for which data and/or information/intelligence is extremely limited, such as that derived from a single photograph or digital image).

9. The analysis of biological, chemical, and physical images on high definition screens transferred directly from your personal microscope or telescope or camera scope.

10. And of course the various ways of just plain having fun with such tools.

All of these things to me are simply modern manifestations of God Technology, but also point out something I think is often not considered in regards to such matters, and that is that as technology advances more and more capabilities that would (at least in the past) be considered the normal property of and purview of highly specialized and strictly concentrated sources (governmental, law enforcement, agency, etc.) have in fact become easily dispersed among the common elements of society, rendering capabilities and effects at the disposal of the individual man and woman.

That is to say simply God Technology is becoming ever more democratized by society, business, industry, and the nature of technology itself, dispersing to everyone who desires and can afford it, or has interest in affording it, not just capabilities per se, but basically the same capabilities as collective organizations of far greater concentration of wealth and resources.

An individual may, through the right tool, through the creation of his own technological tools, through the right combination of tools, through networking with other individuals or small cluster of individuals, and through personal ingenuity, innovation, and creativity decide to accumulate and employ capabilities that his or her own span of imagination or set of breadth and depth of interests is the only real limitation.

Small things like this, cleverly employed, and cunningly combined with other small tools and technologies (I call this Sectional and Interlocking God Technology, SIGOT, and multi-effort God Technology, Asymmetrically Networked God Technology, or ANGOT) can effectively render great God technology capabilities to even the most humble individual, especially if such tools and devices are accumulated over time.

Given that of course, it will be up to the individual, and the small groups with which he or she associates to decide how to employ these technologies, and what direct and indirect uses to make of them.

Well folks, I got the day off and other things to think about and work on.
If I get the time I'm gonna take my dogs out to the lake and go fishing.
It's real pretty here today now that the rain has finally let up.

Sees ya later.

The one caveat I will put to this is that I hope that when this goes public they have a clear explanation of copyright right at the beginning. I know a number of Flickr photographers who have been dismayed to find their pictures used without their permission, sometimes for pay, or stolen and attributed to somebody else. Unfortunately, even "professional" organizations have a tendency to take first and ask permission later, if at all. I can see a number of amateurs using professional-quality photos from Flickr in ways other than just sheer enjoyment, simply because they have no understanding that it's wrong. And when that happens, the pros stop posting.

(I have granted permission for a lot of legitimate usage of certain of my photos, particularly to Schmap, which posts photo directories of cool things to do in various cities. That is because they ask. I haven't had anything stolen, nor do I expect to any time soon, since I'm not posting professional-quality photos.)

I wonder if anyone produces a vadding portfolio or directory in such a way?

That would be very nice.

Commenting on Dean's World is a privilege, not a right. Dean is your host, you are his guest, and you should behave in that fashion. Dean is not your babysitter, nor is he your punching bag. Please remember this. In general, you are free to disagree with anyone on any subject you wish, but abusive behavior will not be tolerated.

Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.

Still: behave like an adult, or go find somewhere else to play. Thanks.
