The Dark Knight

There's a new trailer for The Dark Knight available and it's full of Joker goodness!

I think Heath Ledger might just have something here...

I've seen so many versions of the Joker there isn't really a definitive version of him in my mind like, say, I have of Lex Luthor (and the Gene Hackman/Kevin Spacey Luthor ain't it).

As much as I love Bats, 2009 can't come fast enough for The Man of Steel.

Heath Ledger deserves credit for stepping outside of his "pretty-boy" type-casting like this. Unlike Jack Nicholson's performance, Mr. Ledger is practically unrecognizable.

I agree. What I think really sells Ledger is that he's altered his voice. Nicholson's Joker sounded like Nicholson. Ledger's Joker sounds nothing like Ledger.

But my two favorite clips from the trailer is the one where Joker's in the cell and he's looking up, licks his lips, and lazily blinks. That's creepy. And the other is how he flinched when he fires off the RPG. Like he has no idea what he's doing and it genuinely startles him!

I'm eagerly looking forward to this film.

Batman Begins was, in my opinion, the perfect Batman film. It didn't hurt that it also proved Tim Burton wrong. That an origin tale could be done in an entertaining way.

I actually was only satisfied with Batman Begins, not thrilled. The story was good, but muddled. The casting didn't convince me. And I thought the action scenes were, oddly, too realistic: in order for one Batman to take out a dozen opponents in a realistic fashion, he has to move too fast for them to follow, and use shadows and misdirection so they can never target him; but by portraying that pretty well, in my opinion, the director also made it hard for the audience to follow the action.

I'll always prefer Tim Burton's first film. His second showed what happens when a director gets too popular and no one will say "No" to his ego. And after that, they fell hard for the "more villains are better" fallacy.

I was really surprised at how much I liked Batman Begins. I picked up a previewed copy at Blockbuster for like 10 bucks (on dean's recomendation). I watched it two days in a row I liked it so much.

I'm actually a little more excited about Iron Man. Genius casting for the lead, don't you think?

I am also really excited about Iron Man. And I think they cast Tony Stark perfectly.

2008 is looking to be a good year for movies. The Dark Knight, Iron Man, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Good times.

Then, they run out of scripts and everything goes to crap. :(

They are making an Iron Man movie? Man, how long before we see "Ant Man" on the big screen?

I think there's a deal in for that. Marvel got pissed on with the spiderman movies (no royalties to speak of) and they've been scrambing to make some cash. They've sold about every character they have. I thought I read about an Ant Man movie.
