If Mr. Horn is a sensible human, he is probably glad he has any option other than being fitted for a coffin. I admit I didn't read the report in detail, but two men who are robbing a neighbor AND then approaching in any manner(threatening or otherwise) don't really merit a non-lethal option. As a husband and father, I would be more concerned with the future of my wife and son than I am of two such individuals approaching me. Killing two men is an experience I hope I never have to survive, but better that than pondering the aftermath of two such individuals entering my home when I had no means to defend my family, or any hesitation in exercising the means if I had it available. As far as the "Taser option," I would prefer a loaded gun if the situation you describe presented itself.

Even for the drunk in-law?

Personally, I'd like to have both available.

Ha, shoot intruders with a taser? HA.

They are unreliable compared to firearms. If you want to gamble you life with a non-lethal option on two intruders less than 15 feet away from you, be my guest.

Drunk in-law, maybe.

Well, as a Christian I don't like hurting people, even if they deserve it.

Besides, guns are messy. I don't want intruder-blood all over my expensive carpeting. That stuff never comes out.

Again, I'd like to have both in hand.

A Taser would have likely gotten Horn killed. There is no way to fire multiple rapid shots with a Taser. He would have Tased the first one for just long enough to get murdered by the second.

Well, again, we don't even know the guys were armed.

Commenting on Dean's World is a privilege, not a right. Dean is your host, you are his guest, and you should behave in that fashion. Dean is not your babysitter, nor is he your punching bag. Please remember this. In general, you are free to disagree with anyone on any subject you wish, but abusive behavior will not be tolerated.

Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.

Still: behave like an adult, or go find somewhere else to play. Thanks.
