Black Friday Acquisitions
Kevin D.
Thanksgiving has come and gone and, like many, I took part of the Black Friday festivities. No, I didn’t get to some store at 6 PM on Thursday to get in before everyone else. I showed up at the Best Buy in Traverse City a bit after noon. I had planned on being there at 5 AM but couldn’t bring myself to do it.
Every year Best Buy has a number of new games half-off and this year I wanted to snag Bioshock and The Orange Box, both for the PC. They sold out of The Orange Box but had plenty of copies of Bioshock available. I called a friend back at home and he grabbed The Orange Box for me at another Best Buy.
The wife and I then had lunch at BD’s Mongolian Barbeque and spend the rest of the day at the mall and hit a Border’s (where I grabbed the Battlestar Galactica RPG and Firefly: The Official Companion - Volume 2) before heading back to her mother’s house.
So, did anyone else do any shopping on Black Friday? Snag anything good? See anything interesting?

Not that I have, but...
I still don't understand what you're getting at.
KoTOR, greatly improved, much denser, and without the limitations of the Star Wars universe.
Having read the prequel novel it was kind of nice having a bit of the backstory already in my head when events started unfolding for Sheppard.
You really ought to, Ron. Its an interesting thing for a Jew.
No shopping for me. :-) Might go out and look for a TV card soon enough, though.
It's one thing to have stuff but to celebrate having stuff?
I do not believe I've crossed that line. Not even with Mass Effect and John Irving can attest to how awesome that game is!
Usually that lands me in trouble. </Clinton> </Schwarzenegger>
My spending this year is severely limited due to the rise in heating oil prices, and the fact that come the end of February, my family will be without health insurance. Sigh.
I spent the day recovering from a severe case of bloat, probably brought on by the shade of the turkey we had feasted upon so wonderfully (and fully) the previous day.
After recovering somewhat, I picked the turkey clean, and set some aside for soup, the rest became my delicious curried turkey salad.
This coming friday The Mrs &I will be heading over to the mall for a little window shopping and to pick up a few things. Honestly, though, most anything we get will be stuff we actually NEED, except for a few nice things for the jungen.
Not being Christians, we don't do that particular religious part of Christmas, spending time on the Solstice and the changing of the seasons, giving thanks to the appropriate dieties, etc. We make some special time to decorate the inside of the house with garlands, a tree, and bay and laurel leaves, plus some various incenseand offerings of corn, wine and oil. Plenty of alcohol too... it's a natural food, after all :)
Respects,
Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.
Still: behave like an adult, or go find somewhere else to play. Thanks.
