As a rule I don't have much use for the UN, but have to agree with them that biofuels are pushing the price of some crops to record levels.

For youtube a couple of old classics: Abbott and Costello in Who's On First, and Will Hay in Where's That Fire?.

Ah, forgot to add that our governor crafted a 3.86 percent property tax increase that wasn't there with his veto pen. Take a look at this sly use of crossing out certain words to completely change the meaning of the bill.

That is so wrong and abusive of a line item veto it makes me angry enough to crew rocks.

I’m in downtown Charlotte, NC tonight. Can’t get to sleep because I’m too excited about seeing the Panthers play the Colts tomorrow!

Its fun watching folks out and about in their Halloween costumes.

I can’t find the internets over the hotels wired lan, and I can’t find any wireless nets to log on to. So I’m actually on dial up. Damn it’s slow!

I just heard about a pro-atheist children's movie in which the main characters are purported to kill God. Whew!

Today at lunch, I noticed more people speaking spanish than english, and I don't live in the ghetto.

I wondered how many of them were illegal immigrants, and assumed it was more than 50%, without any evidence of course.

60% of all births in California are to hispanic women, and they seem to have lots of kids. I see young women speaking spanish on their cell phones, with 4 children, all the time. I'm sure they're using our free health care too.

It makes me sick, especially considering how Mexico treats their illegal immigrants (badly), and how the mexicans around here seem to think their illegal presence is justified because this "was their land"... Yeah, like they would give it back to Spain, who would then give it back to the Indians, who slaughtered each other left and right.

Their attitude of entitlement really bothers me.

I wonder if a civil war will even happen because of this, probably not as long as the economy is good.

My presidential vote will be based on the Iran situation and illegal immigration.

The 14th amendment is being misinterpreted. It clearly says "under the jurisdiction thereof", which means that the parents have to be here legally in order for their kids to be citizens. That needs to change, and I hope it goes before the supreme court and gets changed. It will cause problems, but it needs to happen.

I'm dying for some alone time so to get I'm gonna head on over to the local community center where I hear there are gonna be several groups of Jehovah's Witnesses coming to evangelize to all who show up.

I sure do hope that they know I wanna be left alone when I don't tell them I have no interest in hearing what they want to say and would rather read in private but instead engage them in a theological debate.

Yep, I've heard that works very well for some people that go to bars when they want to be left alone too...

I'm dying for the company of rude dolts like Kevin D. Where do I sign up for Compulsory Socializing?

I tried making sending a comment here about Dean not feeling too good, and I made reference to a head cold or something on that order. What I got was some sort of automated goofy reference to key words being blocked by Dean's World. What in hell is this all about?

So if a movie promotes Christianity (one religion) it's ok, but if a movie promotes Atheism (who many theists claim IS a religion) then it's bad?

I'm just clarifying.

Arnold,

I got that last week trying to use the word "online", although that word seems to work now. Still there may be other words blocked. It wasn't just Deans World that was blocking it though, it was any site hosted on PowerBlogs.

I also checked my site, the Queen's and a couple of others, and did so using Windows, Linux, IE and Firefox. If there are still words being filtered I would guess that Chris will have to have a look at it.

So why doesn't he just save us the trouble by publishing a complete list of blocked words so nobody has to waste their time rewriting comments? At least that makes sense to me.

Well, Arnold, Dean doesn't control that list. That would be Chris Lansdown of Powerblogs. Dean's just a Powerblogs user (one of the bigger ones). Dean may not even know what the list contains. Heck, I'm a Powerblogs user, and I never even knew there was a list!

Valjean:

You read an awful lot into a one-word comment. "whew" is not an acronym for something much larger, at least not that I'm aware.

Are you feeling a little touchy on the subject, perhaps?

Commenting on Dean's World is a privilege, not a right. Dean is your host, you are his guest, and you should behave in that fashion. Dean is not your babysitter, nor is he your punching bag. Please remember this. In general, you are free to disagree with anyone on any subject you wish, but abusive behavior will not be tolerated.

Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.

Still: behave like an adult, or go find somewhere else to play. Thanks.
