What ever is it about sex and, at least to some degree, race when it comes to some of these southern prosecutors?

Thank God we're rid of the wicked Mr. Nifong. But the Nimrod who's in charge of the Genarlow Wilson keeps heading for that same cliff. Here's the latest:

David McDade has handed out some 35 copies of a video of teenagers having sex at a party.

McDade is no porno kingpin, but a district attorney. And he says Georgia's open-records law leaves him no choice but to release the footage because it was evidence in one of the state's most turbulent cases — that of Genarlow Wilson, a young man serving 10 years in prison for having oral sex with a girl when they were teenagers.

McDade's actions have opened him up to accusations that he is vindictively misusing his authority to keep Wilson behind bars — and worse, distributing child pornography.

"This has been a ferocious, vindictive prosecution of Genarlow Wilson," said state Sen. Vincent Fort, an Atlanta Democrat. "What is going on is a vendetta."

What on earth is going on here?!

It's more politics than gender/race usually. It makes for good re-election demagoguery to say how tough you are on rapists. Even if the rapist didn't actually rape anyone.

Wait...so he was sent to prison because the girl was a "child," but the distribution of the sex tape isn't child pornography? I don't see how you can have it both ways

Obviously he's the only 17 year old male that has had oral sex with a 15 year old female. This kind of thing never ever happens. Thus, he should be branded as a sex offender which now prevents you from even going to college, serve 10 years in prison, and be labeled as a black pedophile. This is completely fair in a reality I thankfully don't live in, or do I?

In any case, tit for tat. I could see some of the releases of the video, but to members of the public that request it? I am sorry perhaps you could help me with this but isn't that abusing the "open records" request a little bit? I hope they bust him for child pornography only because it would be quite ironic. In summation, this shows how screwed up sex cases can become and why we really need to put specific ground rules as to who makes the sex offender list and what "statutory rape" is and what is not. I am sorry but to me the age difference between 15 and 17 is not justifiable for the charge. This is a reasonable expectation from the greatest country in the world don't you think?

Commenting on Dean's World is a privilege, not a right. Dean is your host, you are his guest, and you should behave in that fashion. Dean is not your babysitter, nor is he your punching bag. Please remember this. In general, you are free to disagree with anyone on any subject you wish, but abusive behavior will not be tolerated.

Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.
