I;ve seen televised newsclips of young Hamastinians seeking shelter behind israeli cops when the Jews started rioting against them about 20 years ago over this and that.
So son't make too much of this. It's nothing more than an arab cultural trait.
And these same kids, when they grow up, turn into the kind of folks who become suicide bombers.
So my heart is not going to jump out of my chest at the thought of them dying before they're old enough to destroy someone else's life.
If we help stabilize Iraq, it's not them that I have much interest in.
It's not the kid, per se, Arnold; it's the soldier. It tells you in a flash who we are that the first reaction of fear is to find the nearest G.I. and turn to him for succor.
Reminds me of what Wodehouse's character, Uncle Fred, told a couple of villians about the US Marines: 'Do you know what US Marines are known for? They arrive.' as he gestured at the PC heading across the lawn towards them.
Despite the rhetoric, our reputation precedes us. Must be what so many hate about us.

Commenting on Dean's World is a privilege, not a right. Dean is your host, you are his guest, and you should behave in that fashion. Dean is not your babysitter, nor is he your punching bag. Please remember this. In general, you are free to disagree with anyone on any subject you wish, but abusive behavior will not be tolerated.
Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.
Still: behave like an adult, or go find somewhere else to play. Thanks.
