For some reason I expected the article to be about Indian Indians, from India.

It seems like a stretch to hold today's royalty responsible for the actions of colonial administrators in 1607. It's also nice to see the folks running Colonial Williamsburg are in full self-flagellation mode these days.

Trudy,

why is the study silly? The linked article includes some good points about using the study to paint all tribes with a single broad brush, but does that mean that the study is prima facie stupid?

Will the French government ever apologize for Napoleon's abolition of the Holy Roman Empire? My German ancestors want to know.

Also, when will the governments of Denmark and Norway apologize for colonizing the British Isles and negatively impacting the quality of life of the natives?

Will Iraq apologize for Nebuchadnezzer abducting every Jew in Israel and carting them off to Babylon as slaves?

When will Homo Sapiens issue an apology to Neanderthal Man?

Will Mammalia apologize to the Birds for displacing dinosaurs 65 million years ago?

Heh, I was confused about which type of Indian activists you were referring to at first...

Incidentally, I'd like to take this moment, seeing as QE2 will be at William &Mary on her trip, to point out that it's absolutely shameful that the NCAA pressured W&M to give up the feathers on their athletic logo. The College has the support of all the Virginia Indian tribes, and it's not as though we're throwing flaming spears into the middle of our football field, like Florida State.

AI has no clue how to conduct a credible study, free of political ideology or other bias. In the first place, they are a political action group, not a research org.

They so often use information that is skewed or even fabricated to suit their purposes, that any study they conduct becomes questionable.

Trudy,

it's fair enough to question an AI study, I don't dispute any of the points you bring up. But you tell us the study is silly and then don't provide any evidence to back that up.

I'm still wondering when the Israeli Prime Minister will apologize for the Amalekites.

Oh, sure, Dean. As soon as Ron seems to be mysteriously absent, the real you comes out. It's all about the joooos...

The proof is in the pudding. All you need to do is go to their website and read their statements. They believe that the only abuse worthy of aid or even discussion is that by men against women.

If you look at any studies that they have commissioned or quoted, you find a disturbiong trend toward the same results.

Commenting on Dean's World is a privilege, not a right. Dean is your host, you are his guest, and you should behave in that fashion. Dean is not your babysitter, nor is he your punching bag. Please remember this. In general, you are free to disagree with anyone on any subject you wish, but abusive behavior will not be tolerated.

Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.

Still: behave like an adult, or go find somewhere else to play. Thanks.
