Death spiral for the I-Man?

More developments in the Imus story -- dumped by MSNBC -- and more agita... more hypocrisy.
Better him than me. But better not at all. Could some good come of this?

Anyway, McGirk has always been pretty much over the edge when it comes to his ethnic comedy. It's only half in jest, in my opinion. He should probably go into stand-up, where this kind of stuff is tolerated to a larger degree. Some of his stuff is really very funny. Maybe his own show on Sirius or XM would be best.
This would probably be a good time for the Iman to retire. He's older than dirt and barely alive as it is. His ratings are abysmal. His influence is dwindling. Time to retire to that Ranch full time. Course then there'd be no way for him to scam more money for those poor cancer kids now, eh?
In any case, if you seriously imagine his influence is dwindling, I would say you don't know what you are talking about.

Ten years ago, Imus pulled in double digit ratings on the radio in some major markets he was in. Today, in Washington DC, where he supposedly has the most "influence", he was rated 25th in drive time radio. If you can even name 24 other radio stations (without googling them) in the Washington DC area, I'll give you $1000.
Nationally, he's tied for 20th for nationally syndicated talk radio shows with the likes of Kim Komando and Jim Rome. Never heard of either? neither have I. Not setting the world on fire there either. And oh yeah, 345K people watch on MSNBC every morning, 1/17th what the Today show gets, and about half of Fox and Friends.
Why do you think he was fired? If he was still pulling in high single digits on radio, he would certainly not have been fired. With high ratings, radio execs don't care much if sponsors pull out, because there are more fish in the sea. With his ratings, when the sponsors start pulling out, it's bye-bye time.
The proof is in the pudding Arnold, if he still had much pull, he'd not have been fired from both his gigs.
Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.
Still: behave like an adult, or go find somewhere else to play. Thanks.
