Dean's World

Defending the liberal tradition in history, science, and philosophy.

You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows

That's right -- when you want to figure out the wrong side of any issue in international affairs, it's just like the old days: Ask Russia.

It's an act of war.

But the British public and parliament will obviously not treat it as such. Which will simply continue to embolden their defiance.

This must be America's fault. It always is somehow.

Made me laugh.
It also brought back a few old memories.

Cripes, I miss the Cold War.

Morality aside, if I was Russia I would probably be siding with Iran over this too. Right now it looks to me like the Mullahs regime is doing well, and is well positioned to dominate the middle east.

This doesn't make me happy, but the realpolitik of the situation, especially if you are Russia, means you back the winners. So far, it looks like that will be Iran, not us.

Commenting on Dean's World is a privilege, not a right. Dean is your host, you are his guest, and you should behave in that fashion. Dean is not your babysitter, nor is he your punching bag. Please remember this. In general, you are free to disagree with anyone on any subject you wish, but abusive behavior will not be tolerated.

Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.

Still: behave like an adult, or go find somewhere else to play. Thanks.
