I don't see anything to be disappointed about. I personally have liked most of the filler episodes. The Colonial Fleet is a big, interesting place with lots of stories. And they're not throwaways, like the B-plots in Star Trek usually were; BSG secondary plotlines have a way of becoming more important than they seem when they're first introduced. It also helps avoid the dramatic conceit that many shows have where everything else in the universe freezes just as it is the moment the camera points at something else.
B-plots can be good. While you have liked the offerings so far (and that's great!) I've thought they were mostly ho-hum. But, the potential is there. I'd like to see another episode dedicated to the pilots. Another one with the deck crew. I think the black market is due a revisit. See what Lee's would-be girlfriend is up to.
So, yeah, there's a lot of potential there. I only hope the writers can do something interesting with it.
Oh! Have we seen a Roslin-centric episode? I mean, something that shows her day-to-day life? That could be good. Or we could visit the Quarum of Twelve. We haven't seen them in forever.
I never get the whole "soap opera" label. I mean, how is BSG any different than any other drama?
It seems to me people only label a drama a "soap opera" when the drama takes a direction they don't like.
Drama's take different directions. It's about the characters first and foremost. If you only want space explosions I suggest a video game may give you what you want.
I like it when my sci-fi doesn't adhere to all the sci-fi cliches from time to time. It makes the genre more popular and thus it makes it easier to produce more sci-fi in general. Even those ridden with space explosions (and I do like those too).
I agree, they've got so many problems right now, they just don't need any more battles.
This whole Baltar thing is going to keep shaking things up, should of just sent him out the airlock.
My problem with the Baltar story-line is he's going to get off the hook. His character is part of the story, the question is just how are they going to make it happen.
Although if got rid of him it'd be easier to do if Tricia Helfer really wants off the show (see above comment).
But then I didn't think they'd get rid of Starbuck either. But they totally left that open for a return, IMHO...

Or, perhaps he gets off because he's not guilty?
Baltar is a oppertunistic coward of the worst sort. He's vain, shallow, and nihilistic.
But, in this particular case, the case he's on trial for, I don't see him as guilty. I just don't see it.
He *is* guilty of what Roslin accuses him of in private. She's the only one other than him who knows it, and really, she can't know she's right.
So he does deserve to die. But not for what he's being accused of.
That's the sort of stuff that does make me like the show.

Commenting on Dean's World is a privilege, not a right. Dean is your host, you are his guest, and you should behave in that fashion. Dean is not your babysitter, nor is he your punching bag. Please remember this. In general, you are free to disagree with anyone on any subject you wish, but abusive behavior will not be tolerated.
Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.
Still: behave like an adult, or go find somewhere else to play. Thanks.
I'm trying to stay "cautiously optimistic."

Or what about...
Any other news?
1) The Six model is boxed.
2) Caprica Six is killed.
3) Baltar loses Sexy Six in his head.
Oh, and the actress that plays Six is Tricia Helfer.
I mean seriously, I love some of the characters but there's been a significant lack of conflict since they left New Caprica. I want space explosions.
