I loved the fact that everybody did fun, non-typical/safe/Idol ballads for a change. Plus, almost every performance was really well done, in-tune, and at least a little original.
I liked Sanjay's choice of songs, but let's face it, jazz never works for AI voters (or judges either). Plus it was just a weak, miminy-piminy performance. If he would have committed to it I think it could have been brilliant, but this was unfortunately the only poor performance of the night.
Evertime they showed Nick Pedro's face I kept thinking "who is this guy again?", and his song choice wasn't exactly electrifying either. Interesting, and well-performed, but I think Simon was right that his problem is lack of charisma.
Chris' choice was the closest to a "safe song" of the night, but I like him so I tend to give him a pass. Excellent performance, anyway.
The song "Mustang Sally" does exactly nothing for me, but I have to give Sundance credit for peforming it well.
I agreed with Simon that the early part of Blake's peformance didn't sound like a particularly original interpretation, but just like last week, I really loved his song choice. Very entertaining performance. I worry if it might have been a mistake to beat box it, just because it sort of type-casts him, but he does it so well that it is hard to criticize. More importantly, he doesn't let it overshadow the quality of his actual singing. I think he's my favorite so far.
IMO, the show was just okay. I do agree with John B.

Commenting on Dean's World is a privilege, not a right. Dean is your host, you are his guest, and you should behave in that fashion. Dean is not your babysitter, nor is he your punching bag. Please remember this. In general, you are free to disagree with anyone on any subject you wish, but abusive behavior will not be tolerated.
Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.
Still: behave like an adult, or go find somewhere else to play. Thanks.

It crossed my mind that Sanjay has already cemented a million-dollar career in India, if he chooses to go that way.
