Seems like Linden Labs are being good sports about it. I wish more companies would follow their example.

The very first "Permit and Proceed" letter I've ever seen.

Linden Lab is well-known for having strict hiring standards, including a requirement for having a sense of humor, from which our lawyers receive no exception.

That bit cracked me up.

That was one of the best letters from a company to a parody site I've ever seen. Good for Linden Labs.

Both the parody - and the letter to the parody - are priceless.

Well done!

"Access your closet to build your first life look."

"Pants Purchased: 27,021"

I wish they made some of the links active and had more parody material.

My kids had HOBBO Hotel and begged us for money to "you know...get stuff".

I was flummoxed that parents would actually pay real money for fake things. Then comes Word of Warcrack where you can get 100 gold for $15 or some crap like that.

It's an awesome idea. I could save myself the effort and just cut a hole in my wallet.

SimCity 4's addons (maps, mods, blds, etc) are user programmed and are downloadable free.

And you can count that you wont find random hookers walking about.

Cheerio,

I'll take my World of Warcrack thank you very much. Slaying dragons, demons, and the odd Night Elf is much more to my liking than building hotels and shooing away virtual hookers.

Actually, the author notes that he contemplated it, but thought he didn't have enough "funny" to fill all the links. So he stuck to the one page.

Just to note, Gold buying in WoW is both against the terms of service, and quite looked down upon within the game community. At least on my realm. Of course, I'm on a RP realm, which ends up being significantly different than most realms anyway.

Just to clarify...I love World of Warcrack, I am probably the poorest level 56 Mage with my paultry 30 gold that I have managed to hang onto.

And yes...gold buying is against the terms but I talk to people who give it to their kids as a gift, and some people would rather buy a ready made character than develop one, which is sad in my opinion.

I was remarking that I am mortified at how easily we will hand over real money for fake stuff.

Just wondering if anyone's seen anything to suggest that the letter purportedly from Linden Labs is actually from Linden Labs and not another parody....

The big diff of course is that you can actually make money in SL and people are doing it. There are several I know who are making a living from business in SL. Some of the sneering going on about SL says more about the sneerers than SL.

Speaking of which there are terrorists in Second Life who go around destroying people's property and businesses.

Sweden is opening an embassy in Second Life and several new agencies have bureaus. There is now a proper radio station in second life called Crystal Clear Radio.

If you are interested in SL you might want to listen to next weeks Lagwolf &Lair show.
