Welcome Matthew Sheffield
Dean
Journalist Matthew Sheffield has officially joined Dean's World, for the duration of the Scooter Libby trial if not longer. He'll be covering the trial from the courtroom for us.
Please give him a traditional Dean's World welcome.

But most of us operate on the assumption that everybody ought to be entitled to his or her opinion, and maybe his or her unsupportable preconceived notions as well. And this kind of attitude keeps Dean's World lively and interesting.
So it will be interesting to read your reportage and your general take on the Libby trial.
(Even if the issue for which Mr Libby is defending himself is now just almost as forgotten as the Bork hearings of about 20 years ago.)

nothing's working properly for me - i slipped on the ice and broke my damned wrist
i meant to say welcome to dean's world
Yes, Arnold by himself is a contentious, unruly and contrary "lot". Don't put it past him!
Welcome aboard, Matthew! I look forward to your reports.
welcome.
now tell us what u hold most sacred so i can craft a scathing deconstruction of it. lol.
;)
..and yes, what Dave S. said...
Now we’ve got an ex-Mormon to poke and prod!
It might be difficult to concentrate on his trial coverage….
Which is part of why not just the judge will be watching this, but also many other parties.
And in the back of the room, Martin bounces up and down in his seat, arm high in the air, chanting:
"Sit by me! Oooh, oooh, here's a seat! Sit by me!!!"
Martin likes to make friends with the newbies. He's the outgoing one.
We're a bit like Sybil.
Linda (the simple)
Dang, ya beat me to that.
Welcome aboard and hope you're useful. If you are then that's even better than the alternative.
Heh.
Does that mean we have to dress for dinner? I forget the purpose of the little fork.
And Linda, I'm getting worried. You know me too well.
Speaking of trials, man, the Bears really miss Tommie Harris and Mike Brown.
Martin,
Somebody's got to be the nice one, hon! Might as well be you - you've got the temperament for it.
And sometimes I think this group really IS a variation of Sybil.
Linda
Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.
Still: behave like an adult, or go find somewhere else to play. Thanks.
