OCSteve:
This kind of thing really blows me away. It is the ultimate reply to the left’s constant cries of chickenhawk and fighting keyboardists, as well as the MSM’s constant carping about people writing about Iraq from the comfort of their living room in the safety of their own home.

I have to ask myself, if I wasn’t married and the primary breadwinner for my family (not to mention middle-aged and not all that fit), if I wasn’t involved in a great career that I could not possibly give up, even then – would I have the stones to do this?

If I am honest with myself I have to admit, probably not.

Godspeed Bill and keep your head down.

I had to turn down one offer from CentCom, but only because I just got a new job and they refused to give me the time off.

However, after I've been there a while I plan on trying again. They said they were open.

I would of course go in a heartbeat. I've already done things more dangerous both for a living and for a hobby.

By the way, Bill's my brother and I love him, but he's far from the only blogger to blog from Iraq. There have been a ton at this point. What's pathetic is how many people don't know it, but bloviate that it's not happening anyway.

I know you really wanted to go Dean. Maybe you can later like you said. Bill's posts are great. I admire him, I really do.

I'm really pretty pissed about it. Dad was disappointed too. He has lots of friends he met there that he wanted to hook me up with.

It's okay, if I can't make it this time I can try for next time.

Commenting on Dean's World is a privilege, not a right. Dean is your host, you are his guest, and you should behave in that fashion. Dean is not your babysitter, nor is he your punching bag. Please remember this. In general, you are free to disagree with anyone on any subject you wish, but abusive behavior will not be tolerated.

Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.

Still: behave like an adult, or go find somewhere else to play. Thanks.
