Dean--I am unable to adequately word my agreement with you. One side of my family is Polish. What they went through in their efforts to be free, and to pursue their lives without oppression and fear is hard to believe for a great-grandson born and raised a free man. We take so much for granted here in the United States--things that so many around the globe feel are so foreign and unlikely in their lives that they are only fantasy and dreams awake. It is distressing to me that so many of my fellow citizens are unable to recognize such realities. The photo in the post below this is a small but powerful example of the potential horrors that define the lives of too many people on this Earth. Debates about making war, and the catalysts for such wars have their place, but turning a blind eye to totalitarianism and religious fascism is suicidal folly. To affect such a blind eye in the service of temporary political gain is an unforgivable obscenity.

Funny you mention it, all my relatives from Poland (who I've talked to anyway) are elated that Saddam is dead, and wondering what took so long.

I guess people who actually grow up under totalitarianism have a much different attitude than many pampered brats from rich and free countries do.

Commenting on Dean's World is a privilege, not a right. Dean is your host, you are his guest, and you should behave in that fashion. Dean is not your babysitter, nor is he your punching bag. Please remember this. In general, you are free to disagree with anyone on any subject you wish, but abusive behavior will not be tolerated.

Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.

Still: behave like an adult, or go find somewhere else to play. Thanks.
