Call For Actioin Against Iranian Death Fatwa Upon Journalist

A journalist in Azerbaijan published the Danish Cartoons and a Grand Ayatollah in Iran (separate nation) has called for the journalist to be killed. I have started a letter/email writing campaign. Please, for God's sake, use only the letter I've provided, and not language like "go eff yourself" or "down with Islam." Either use the letter, or stay silent.

Just do not be stupid. The last think we need is the Ayatollah to get pissed from some blogosphere Troll. If you care about this guy's life, or the Danish Cartoons, just don't be stupid.

When a Saudi newspaper (Shams, a tabloid out of Riyadh) published one of the cartoons last February, the editor got fined and the newspaper was suspended for two weeks. Even the Saudis aren't seeking the death penalty for stuff like this.

True. I think you have to work on your pitch here. From a marketing viewpoint, you basically have a 'product' that sells itself - of course everyone wants to help Rafiq Tagi.

But the same pitch used on other, less immediately saleable ideas won't work for the most part. I know the abusive pitch works in self-hating-guilty-liberal circles, but they're a special case.

Ali,

I couldn't help but notice that your 'Don't flame the Ayatollah' warning you used on your own blog carried a significantly different tone that what you used here. It's a revealing view of your opinion of your different audiences I suppose.

In any case, I'll send the letter and try to avoid being stoooooo-pid. ::eye roll::

just to clarify,

i put the warning in my blog in this morning, loooong after i had put it up here, so i had time to tone it down.

it has nothing to do with the audience b/c i've been blown up insta and malka lanches.

thanks for asking me to clarify.
