Eddie Izzard is (or at least was) simply wonderful. I'd watch him every chance I could when I was in the UK.

Just to be historically fair: this is a very funny description of the current C of E/Episcopalian faith, but it is not historically true at all.

Just ask Sir Thomas More and countless others like him.

But also to be fair, if you listen to Izzard's ENTIRE spiel, and not just this (very funny) excerpt, he actually makes that quite clear. In fact his description of the C of E and Henry the 8th representing "the Gospel according to St. Bastard" is equally hilarious.

"Then along came Martin Luther. 'Oh look, some principles!'"

Screamingly hilarious from start to finish.

And none of it an indictment of Christianity by the way, although these days I'm presumed to be anti-Christian. I have big issues with Evangelicals but I'd rather engage them than despise them. And don't even get me started on atheist idiots.

Dress To Kill is without a doubt one of the greatest comedic performances of this decade. I don't think even Eddie realized what an incredible job he'd done.

Many Brits make fun of the way contemporary Anglicans (in the UK, at least) cannot stand up for anything and offer only the mildest of moral guidance. Izzard nailed that perception.

Tea, Cake, or Death...

I'm sorry, we are out of Tea.

Well, how about Cake then,

Oh, I'm afraid we don't have any Cake either.

Well, then I guess I have Death, if that's all you've got.

Effing hilarious.

Now imagine Eddie in a trolley headed for Alcatraz.

Alcatrazzzz....
