Heather: are you unaware that Isaac Asimov once wrote a short story whose plot hinged on the crucial point that Halloween is precisely equal to Christmas?

Programmers often make this mistake, because OCT 31 = DEC 25.

No I didn't, but it wouldn't surprise me. Since I'm not a programmer could someone please explain how OCT 31 = DEC 25? Is it hex or something?

Octal numbering vs. decimal.

When my daughter was two, she loved trick or treating, but she thought that Halloween was a permanent change in social rules.

The next day, she pounded on our neighbor's door, shouting "trick or treat". She was very disappointed to find out that free candy was only available one day a year.

Dean,

VERY adorable, but I would have bet money on Battlestar Galactica costumes for your crew.

I just got home and our little town is covered in shaving cream, toilet paper and broken eggs tonight. Very messy, but the local cleanup crew will be out first thing tomorrow and clean it all up, except for one tree. It's a tradition here, the big elm tree on the school baseball field has been TP'd for probably 40 years now. The kids hit it every year, probably 30 rolls at least, and the tissue is left on until nature cleans it up.

No calls tonight (so far), so I'm happy. Hope everyone out there had a safe holiday, and hope the dental insurance is paid up!

Linda
