I have trouble with the historicity of some of what they've done here. Also I think that showing discrete empires misrepresents what actually happened over substantial periods: a Syrian village here, a Hittite village there, a Philistine village adjoining.
It also neglects some major groups (who don't happen to have political descendants).
Yeah, on the other hand it gives good perspective on the whole idea that any one people, culture, religion, etc. have somehow been more dominant over the course of history.
