Don't start digging the hole to bury his ass....I bet he pulls through. There are too many people pulling for his death and that tends to keep people like that around longer.

Call in karma...he is one evil person that has spent far too long on this planet and destroyed Cuba in the process......

Dean,

Sorry, no can do - I pray that before he is called to depart from this world that he'll see the error of his ways, repent and beg forgiveness.

As it stands, though, it looks as though Pride is preparing a special place for Fidel Castro, even if he manages to pull through this particular crisis.

I'm a numbers guy. If one live person will kill 100 innocent people, then yes, I wish that person dead if there's no other way to stop him.

I may wish more strongly for another way to stop him; but in the case of Fidel, there hasn't been any.

Not to be a buzz-kill or anything, but...

What reason is there to believe Raul will be any better than Fidel?

Castro is Dead. Long Live Castro - It just seems a little hollow.

I am leaning toward, "Already Dead". After all, there is no video and the letter is pretty lame.

As for What reason is there to believe Raul will be any better than Fidel?

He will quite possibly be worse. Castro knows (knew?) how to play useful idiots. He is actually pretty good at it. I understand they want to be played, but there has to be a limit.
So maybe Raul will be worse, think he can do anything and end up doing something that even his lap-dogs in the MSM won't be able to gloss over.

Imagine if people in the US actually have to acknowledge that Cuba is a horrible dictatorship? You know, they could stop talking about universal healthcare while ignoring that it sucks. Or they could stop telling me about high literacy rates while ignoring the blatant censorship in what you are allowed to read.
That alone could do wonders for the Cuban people stuck on that island prison.

"It is probably not right in the Christian, Muslim, or Jewish faiths to pray for bad things to fall upon the ill."

I dunno. A whole lot of the psalms concern David's cry to God for justice and deliverance from wicked men.

Psalm 10:12,15 "Arise, LORD! Lift up your hand, O God. Do not forget the helpless... Break the arm of the wicked and evil man; call him to account for his wickedness that would not be found out."

Psalm 12:3-4 "May the LORD cut off all flattering lips and every boastful tongue that says, 'We will triumph with our tongues; we own our lips--who is our master?'"

I seem to recall the Quran also had several sections where Muhammed described with relish the fate that awaited those who hindered his message.

Of course, most Jews and Christians (not so sure what Muslims believe on this subject) hesitate to pray for the destruction of their enemies because it requires a certain degree of wisdom and holiness to know whether such prayer is truly justified or not, and no one alive is as holy and wise as David. Not to mention that God's promise that He would deliver Isreal from all who attacked it was an Old Covenant promise, and probably doesn't apply to Christians in the New Covenant--we'll have to wait until Judgment Day to see justice.

I know that was just a little throw-away comment, and I'm sorry if I'm belaboring an obvious point. Just felt like adding my two cents.

Raul doesn't have the cult of personality going for him - but I gather he does have the military. But he's also not much younger than Fidel.

Btw, Tall Dave, Val Prieto is all Castro rumors all the time at present. :)

The cult of personality generally isn't hereditary. Remember what happened to Cromwell's son when he "inherited" the position of Protector of the Republic.

The only thing which would concern me is if there's a group of "Young Turk" true believers in the regime who are willing to form a junta, and overthrow the old men in charge...
