Note however that the producer slighted dairy farmers by eliding the traditional reference to the American whey.

Too tired.
Scraped up two layers of vinyl tile off the bathroom floor to get to a solid base of ceramic tile - after disassembling a toilet whose 4 bolts were so bad off they needed to be dremeled and hacksawed.

Tomorrow: floor leveling

This week on "...are the contractor's done yet?" Robert Modean drinks a beer while talking to the guy who cuts his grass.

Writing code. For fun. On a Friday night. Yes, I'm a sad case. But I'm happy this way. (And at least I'm not scraping up floor tile!)

Found a humorous puppeteer on YouTube that I have watched for the third time now. The guy is good.

I’m winding down now. ‘Twas a hectic week.

We survived 13.75 inches of rain this week here at the jaymaster compound.

And I survived the end of a most hectic second quarter at work.

But sales are up 58%, so the bonus should be good!

Now I’m spent, and looking forward to a few days of relaxation, reflection, and jubilation.

I hope you all enjoy the upcoming celebration of the beginning of our freedom.

And may its spread continue!

AP - A group of American soldiers in an insurgent-riddled town allegedly noticed a young Iraqi woman when on patrol and later returned to rape her, according to U.S. officials Friday. In an apparent cover-up attempt, she and three members of her family then were killed and her body was set on fire.

I guess that's not getting my 4th of July off to a good start. Oh, but that's hardly a worthy thread topic for Bush's, Dean's World.

So do you think it actually happened, Tim?

And what should we do about it, besides prosecute them?

Which, if they're guilty, they should be.

What? You mean that if these US troops actually did what they're supposedly accused of doing, it doesn't totally invalidate the invasion of Iraq, the removal of the Saddam Hussein regime, and the attempt to establish a stable democracy in the region?

Are you sure?

Anyway...In a Missoula, MT hotel on the way home from vacation. Just arrived. Monty Python's Flying Circus is on...the Spam sketch.

Good to see you in these parts, murdoc.

My snarkometer indicates an 11% increase in the level of snarkiness on this blog already!

Although, it would have been 12% if you could somehow have managed to use the word "Haliburton".

12.5% if Halliburton is spelt correckly.

Dean,

One of the most rewarding things about serving in the U.S. Army (for me personally) is the incredibly high standard conduct we set for ourselves. I am certain that those individuals will receive a fair military trial. I also know that these are the acts of a few individuals, but that these acts do happen and will continue to happen. The military is a microcosm of society, and there are immoral people in all walks of society....but it is a significant act of barbarism...it cannot be ignored, unreported, and not discussed.

So discuss it. I do believe you have posting privileges on another blog, yah?

John,

While Tim has been known to hijack a thread now and then with his "why aren't you talking about this" act -- and while I generally think that's pretty despicable behavior -- open thread means open thread. I don't believe it's possible to hijack an open thread. His attitude may be snotty, but beyond that, I don't think he's out of line in bringing this up in this thread.

Tim_the Soldier (mail):
Martin,

If hijacking a thread is "pretty despicable behavior" I wonder what you think gang-raping an Iraqi girl, killing her AND her family, and then setting her on fire is. Let's put it in perspective son. And for the record, I'm never "snotty" - type it with me..."Tim, you're a M-O-T-H-E-R F-U-C-K-E-R!!!"

I don't ever want to be thought of as "snotty." Remember that pathetic waiter from Ferris Bueller's Day Off? He used the word "snotty." Do you look and act like him Martin? Please tell me the answer is "no."

Martin L. Shoemaker (www):
Thanks, Tim. In the future, I'll remember that standing up for you when you're right is "rewarded" with the same abuse as standing up against you when you're wrong. Next time, I won't bother.

Tim_the Soldier (mail):
Dude, I'm always wrong...and abuse...not masturbating is the only abuse I can think of, so why would I abuse myself?
