This week I recieved not one but two lawsuit threats over things I've published on Dean's World.
Scout's Honor: not one but two such threats. Within 48 hours of each other, actually.
I'm pretty upset about this. It's been over a year since I got such a threat.
I thought I was losing my touch.
(Note to JW: Just ask nicely and the deed is done. Otherwise, seriously: f*** off.)
It's not like you're running around tossing molotov cocktails into McDonalds restaurants or something.
Well I only do that sort of thing when I'm in a really bad mood...

Lawsuit threats are just like suicide threats: they are cries for attention and nothing more. Anyone who is serious doesn't threaten: they do it.
I've learned that a lawsuit isn't something that's easily done: it takes hours of time and usually cash up-front. If you are a corp with lawyers on retainer, it's much easier - but as a private party you had better be seriously injured by another because otherwise it's not worth the effort.
Spill the beans and shame the bastards. Sunlight is the best disinfectant...
If someone is threatening you with a lawsuit you have to remember we're a resource for you. We're a pool of witnesses, advisors, potential co-financiers, and some of us might even be lawyers. So like Scott said, spill the beans and shame the bastards.
