The really sad part is the scammer has some decent carving skills, or knows somebody who does. Those are great pieces. If he put his effort into that, I'll bet he could make a decent living. There are lots of American shops that are trying to work with local artists like that to help their economies.

When he got to the part about Bert I nearly peed my pants I was laughing so hard. "Local hamster sanctuary!" Bwahahahahaaha!

Martin, you, my friend -- you -- are "defending the liberal tradition" around here!

I felt a little disheartened by the routine when the samples were being sent. I didn't have to get to the bottom to know they probably exploited someone to get that sample to the director. It inadvertently led to someone else being mistreated by this person. Still it is an amusing prank. "Bert" heh.

As a side note, this is old, but along the same vein if you like pranks on scammers. Something Awful did one of their own:Another Nigerian Prince Needs Help!

What is delightful about this is the scammer sends him an e-mail right after the police notified the would-be target that this person was indeed guilty of wrong doing. Hopefully the IP address that the e-mail had attached to it had helped the police with their efforts. :)

If you liked that, he convinced one scammer to tattoo himself with "Baited by Shiver".
