The Maggot Is Sued

I see that Michael Moore is being sued by Sgt. Peter Damon, a wounded double-amputee veteran who Moore put into his 2004 hate-propaganda film, Fahrenheit 9/11.

I'd like to see the family of Major Gregory Stone join the lawsuit, along with the many others who've come out since that film's release and revealed how Moore shamelessly lied about and grossly distorted what they said and did and believed.

I don't think there's a more loathsome man in America than Michael Moore. I hope they take away every penny that traitorous pig ever made on his terrorist recruitment film.

Update: Hmm, Mikey is looking better these days, isn't he?

Unfortunately, I'm betting that Sgt. Damon signed a release that gave NBC rights to edit and resell the clip. While I hope this embarrasses Mr. Moore (if that's possible with such a shameless slime and his eager apologists), I doubt it will cost him any more than lawyer fees.

And if I'm wrong, I'll be very, very happy.

I am furious with the things this man says.... I am excited that he is aloud to say them.... I am pleased that he is being sued instead of executed... but just pleased...:)

The contention of his lawsuit is that Moore intentionally made it look like he said or believed things he absolutely did not and does not.

A signed release--assuming he did sign one at all--wouldn't get him out of this.

I think you're making loathsome sound too good. He's right there with Jabba the Hut. I've often though the two had similar physiologies. Both are slimy overgrown slugs.

More physically loathsome? Moore wins that one hands down.

More generally loathsome? I'd have to go with Noam the Stalinist Gnome, only because he's had more years at being loathsome than Flabba The Gutt. Providing his arteries and other bodily partsd hold up, though, Flabba is a good contender for Noam's throne.

From what I read, Mr. Moore used Sgt. Damon's direct quote...

In "Fahrenheit 9/11," the bandaged National Guardsman is shown laying on a gurney complaining that he feels like he's "being crushed in a vise. But they [the drugs] do a lot to help it and they take a lot of the edge off it."

...and then used it as an example of Rep. McDermott's contention:

"You know, they say they're not leaving any veterans behind, but they're leaving all kinds of veterans behind."

Whether Sgt. Damon supports or opposes the war, his pain is legitimate evidence of "leaving all kinds of veterans behind" if suffering vets are "left behind". I disagree with that conclusion; but I think Rep. McDermott exactly meant wounded vets like Sgt. Damon (and vets that died in service as well, of course).

Unless there's more to it than this story tells, the only one on record opposing the war here is Rep. McDermott. I can't see where anything is stated about Sgt. Damon's opinion; all that's discussed is his pain. I don't see any misrepresentation, just selective quoting. If selective quoting will get you into trouble, then Maureed Dowd's goose is cooked. Sadly, she's still in business...

I would love to see Mr. Moore suffer for his dishonesty. I'm just not sure this case can make that happen.

And he's from our town, so I'll be cheering him on that much harder. I think my niece's husband may have even helped wih his house construction.

I just had a disturbing thought: How awful it would be if the law firm I work for were hired for the defense.

Won't happen; not the right specialty and not celebrity enough, despite the head of the firm being one of the best trial lawyers in the state. But ohmygod if that happened I would be horrified.
