Defending the liberal tradition in history, science, and philosophy.

Now Here's a Thought

Bob Krumm says please start impeachment proceedings against Bush--pretty please with sugar?

I think he's right. It's kind of fun watching lunatic fringe righties and lefties falling in line with the idea, too. The Pat Buchanan-Michael Moore-Barbra Streisand-Bob Barr axis of morons should have their say. What the heck. Let's begin the proceedings as the first order of business in January!

(Am I the only one who notes the irony that George W. Bush came out publicly against impeaching President Clinton, and then when they did it anyway strongly condemned them for it? Makes you wonder what's wrong with the MoveOn.org crowd.)

What's wrong with that crowd? Man, what's right? It's a shorter list.

That said, in retrospect, I don't agree with the attempted impeachment of Clinton. He was a jackass for doing what he did but it certianly didn't fall under "high crimes and misdemeanors."

However, he did lie under oath. Does that qualify? Certianly there should have been some kind of punishment for that. I dunno...

Yeah well the "MoveOn" crowd specifically started as a supposedly non-partisan organization supposedly dedicated to getting the country to "move on" from the issue of Clinton's actions and not impeach him. The irony knows no bounds.

My main gripe with Clinton (who I voted for) is that he LIED under oath and on national television to the voters. Short of that, Presidents filander (you'd just hope as a national pride thing he'd pick someone smarter and better looking...) and if Hillary's okay with it, leave it alone.

I actually wrote all my elected officals and threatened them with never voting for them again if they impeached. I can say Hutchison didn't vote for the Impechment in the Sentate. A couple of others will drop dead before I check their name on a ballot again.

Sure, why not impeach Bush. Clinton's popularity rose after his impeachment, Bush's would too. LET'S IMPEACH BUSH!!! NOW!!! :)

For a man that supposed to be so smart, I thought Clinton's imbroglio one of the dumbest things a president could do.

Suppose she was a plant from a foreign government and wanted to use this to blackmail him? For all those that have watched James Bond movies, the possibilities are endless.

During his presidency, I said that if Saddam wanted to get on Clinton's good side, all he had to do was send over a planeload of babes.

I'm waiting for Clinton to have a press conference (possibly with Hilary in the background), and to come out and condemn this nonsense while looking 'deeply troubled' with trembling lip, over the rancor being stirred up. Of course, he blames the Republicans for starting it, but he ends up by saying that just as it was unfair to attack him (somthing I'm not so sure of myself), so it is unfair to do it to Bush (and thus Hilary looks even more centrist and electable). And Mr. Clinton takes one more step toward being Saint Bill.

Either that, or someone asks him on national TV what his opinion of this is.

I do hope that Mr. Clinton rises to the occasion for it would be of great benefit not only to himself, his wife, but more importantly to the Dem Party, and to the Nation.

And HAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVE to the Students and Professors at Dean's College of the Liberal Arts, and to the Dean Family as well.

Clinton could certainly pull that sort of thing off. And quite frankly, I wish he would. The "lunatics in charge of the asylum" syndrome seems a particular problem for Demcorats these days.

Monica does not look AT ALL like a Bond movie character.
