Defending the liberal tradition in history, science, and philosophy.
Very Cool

While you're waiting for Dean's World to transfer to its new server (remember, things will be weird for a day or two, some of you will see the new site and some won't during the transition), you may want to check out this very cool patriotic video.
By the way, this is my first posting on the new Dean's World.
BTW, will you be reading comments here, Dean? If not, that's ok. If so, then be aware that the box for entering comments is "hidden" all the way down at the bottom of your page. In other words, I can't start entering comments until I'm past the "Powered by Powerblogs" logo on the left.
Yes, I'll be reading and responding to comments for now, under the assumption that registration will slow it down to manageable levels.
Especially because, after the first week or so, I'm going to require not just registration but approved registration. That is, at the moment anyone can register and start commenting right away, but then I'm going to shut down and you're going to have to await my approval.
I just registered...does that mean I'm only in on a temporary basis? A few days back I stumbled onto your blog from a random google, and I like it quite a bit. I'm new to this whole blogosphere thing, and read quite a bit to make sure I wouldn't be making a complete idiot when I decided to post something. I just hope I'll be welcome.
I meant, making myself a complete idiot...I have got to learn to proofread better.

Commenting on Dean's World is a privilege, not a right. Dean is your host, you are his guest, and you should behave in that fashion. Dean is not your babysitter, nor is he your punching bag. Please remember this. In general, you are free to disagree with anyone on any subject you wish, but abusive behavior will not be tolerated.
Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.
Still: behave like an adult, or go find somewhere else to play. Thanks.
